Run, don’t walk to Butcher & Singer

August 10th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Butcher & Singer, burger, burgerbaroness, cheap eats, work lunch

Why do you ask? Because their $5.95 Butcher Burger weekday lunch deal is a steal and I’m not sure how long it is going to last. They did have it on their menu so it must be staying for awhile, right? This is an amazing deal. The burger is usually $16 dollars so seriously grab your favorite lunch buddies and head over there. Right now! Or until you finish reading this post.

If it’s on the menu it’s got to be true.

If you plan on visiting Butcher & Singer for lunch you should fast for a few days beforehand. This burger is a beast. It is 10 oz and it will rock you. Make sure to wear elastic waist pants. It’s an even better deal because you won’t have to eat anything for the rest of the day.

In all seriousness, it is a one tasty burger. Cooked to perfection, the meat is so good. Strong beefy flavor and oh so juicy. It’s topped with grilled onions and melted English cheddar. At the bottom of the patty is a tangy homemade Russian dressing which made me a little giddy because it is my favorite burger condiment. The burger held together amazingly well for being as juicy as it was. It is a well constructed burger. No brioche bun woo! I think I will start waging a war against brioche buns on burgers. Oh and kaiser rolls. Those are a no no as well.

While this is a very good burger it is unlikely that I would ever pay full price for it.  Not because of the price but just because Butcher and Singer isn’t exactly my kind of dining vibe. Yes it is lovely inside but I do feel a little uncomfortable in fancier restaurants. I will say that the service was wonderful and everyone was really friendly to us and didn’t judge me for ordering the burger and sticking with water as a beverage. A soda will cost you $3.95. I say in that case you should just get a martini for $12 and take the rest of the afternoon off. This deal is really great because you get a little taste for the power lunch without the power lunch price. Not all of us have expense accounts.

So what are you waiting for? Get over there!

I’d just like to throw out an honorable mention to the fries that accompany the B&S burger. They are damn near perfect.

I’ve yet to try this but it’s on my list. I’ll be having it at the end of the month sometime and can’t wait. I just had PYT’s burger over the weekend and it was pretty good.

This B&S burger looks great. And those fries too. It’s not lunch time yet but I’m hungry just looking at it.

yes! and more yes! we went for lunch on friday, and it was ah. maze. ing. and cheap.
but then i cancelled out the cheap-ness with a $13 manhattan.

and i agree with nikki – the fries are pretty damn great, too!
