…and it’s called Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
I figured this blog could use a little bit more sweetness to it. I’m more of a savory lady and would choose an appetizer over a dessert any day, if the choice had to be made. One sweet treat that I can never say no to is a donut. Especially when it comes from a good old fashioned donut shop. Philly is seriously lacking in this department so I was so happy to find during a recent visit to Brooklyn this gem in Greenpoint. It’s pretty much the reason I found myself one day looking at apartments in Greenpoint on Craigslist. Don’t worry Philly, you can’t get rid of me that easily.
Before I dig into the wonders of Peter Pan, I do have to thank my friend Econ for introducing me to it. She’s all kinds of awesome and I thought she more than deserved a shout out on FWTS.
I love a good sign and Peter Pan totally does it for me. It’s clear and to the point.
More cute signage and cheap!
This is my standard go to donut, the glazed bow-tie. I love a glazed donut. I like the simplicity of it and how it doesn’t overwhelm the lightness of a good raised donut.
I thought I was fine with the bow-tie until I saw this. A BLACK AND WHITE DONUT. This donut blew my mind. I didn’t even know it existed. I actually did a little freak out in the bakery over this thing. I might have done a little dance and sang a song. Ok maybe not but in my heart I was. Chocolate frosting and coconut cream frosting, it doesn’t get any better than this folks. Unless you hate coconut, which seems to be a thing for some people but I wouldn’t know because I don’t associate myself with those people. I kid.
Peter Pan also serves up other non-donut baked goods, like bagels and I also saw someone eating a breakfast sandwich. They also make a DONUT ICE CREAM SANDWICH! Yes I was yelling. I don’t know why I didn’t get this while I was there, I think I was trying to save my appetite for burgers. I have my priorities. If Econ isn’t mad at me for forcing her to watch My Girl, she hadn’t seen it before!, I will be visiting Peter Pan again and again and again.
