Just a quick love letter to the greatness that is spending New Year’s day in Phillly.

First to the Mummer’s Parade, you are like a Philadelphia miracle.  Especially because of people like this. Yes that’s a dude dressed as a shake and the lady is wearing a burger. THE LADY IS WEARING A BURGER!

Also look at the passion these guys have for hot pretzels. HOT COALS!

Second to my friends who opened their homes for eating, drinking and resting, thank you for your hospitality. My friends Josh and Martha, who you will hear more about this year, offered up the incredible spread shown below. This is only like 10% of what was going on there. Big ups to Renee for the chili and a stoop right on Broad St. to drink on. It really doesn’t get any better.

So I spent my first day of 2010 with good friends and good food. I think this year is going to be pretty awesome.
