When you keep writing the word special it starts looking really weird. Just look: special special special special special special special special special special special special special. I actually had to instant message a friend to confirm that this is how it is spelled. I’m still not completely confident that it is. And I just tweeted about it.

I had dinner with some of my favorite ladies not too long ago at Royal Tavern. As I mentioned before, I was unimpressed with their vegan sloppy joe. When I saw a short rib sloppy joe listed on their specials menu I thought I would give it a chance. I’m so glad I did. What a sandwich!
The short rib was so tender and the sauce was much better than what they use on the vegan sloppy joe. It didn’t have the same spiciness and was just little bit sweet, just the way I like it. The addition of cheese was also appreciated. The bun held it all together very nicely.
I’ve been dreaming about this sandwich ever since. If you see it on the specials menu get it!
I am a huge fan of short rib…anything! I hope to catch this on the menu next time I end up at the Royal.
I totally understand wanting the vegan sloppy joe to be not so spicy and be more traditionally sweet, but I happen to love me some RT vegan sloppy joe. I’d probably love it just as much with that short rib sauce, too.
Taylor: I can totally understand why you would love the RT vegan sloppy joe. It didn’t taste bad, just not what I expected. Though I think spicy is in the name of it so that should have given me a clue. I eat the vegan sloppy joe that you can buy in a box from Whole Foods and love it.
