Of course my not-so-triumphant return to food blogging would be brought about by my complete and utter obsession with the happy hour at Teri’s. I try not to be the kind of blogger who apologizes for disappearing for months at a time so we will just move on like nothing ever happened. K? Cool.
January has been a long and terrible month, right? You’re totally broke. You’re bitching about the weather on various social networking sites. Nothing is going right for you. All your friends are falling in love and your cat likes your roommate better than you. You can’t be happy for anyone. I’m totally talking about you, right?
Well I’ve got a little bright spot for you. Teri’s, a diner/bar right in the heart of the Italian Market. More specifically, let’s talk about the happy hour at Teri’s. Monday trough Friday from 6 to 8, their “Can Can Happy Hour” features great deals on all canned beers. Cans of craft beers and PBR tall boys are $2 and $1 for Tecate. If you need something stronger because the dude you thought you were having a great time with just reconnected with his ex, a shot of Canadian Club will do the trick at $2. Again, this is all about you.
Here is the part of Teri’s that I am really obsessed with, TATER TOTS. Look these aren’t house made tots you might find in some of Philly’s finer dining establishments. You can watch the cook take a big bag o’ tots out of the freezer and drop them in the deep fryer. It’s cool. These tots will rock. They are perfectly fried and seasoned generously with salt and pepper. ALSO YOU GET THIS BIG HEAP OF THEM FOR $3. It’s a steal. Really. I feel like I am stealing from them. I had this conversation with my friend about how they under charge for the tots. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
So hate your life a little less and enjoy the tots and dollar beers. Teri’s does have a full food menu and I have enjoyed their chicken cutlet sandwich. There are also vegetarian and vegan options, if you are hating life AND you don’t eat meat.Teri’s 1126 South 9th Street
