This is the kind of burger I dream about. With a toasted potato bun, meat that’s ground fresh and hand formed and topped with perfectly melted American cheese, the Shack burger at Shake Shack is just my kind of burger. Isn’t it beautiful.
There has been a lot written about the burgers at Shake Shack so I won’t go into great detail about it. See here for related posts from my favorite burger blog. What I would like to mention is that they use the smash technique, which is illustrated in this video. I was super excited to see the results of this technique when I visited Shake Shack last week during a midweek trip to NYC. With the smash technique you get a burger that is perfectly charred on the outside. Because the burgers consist of a 80:20 meat-to-fat ratio you are guaranteed a juicy burger. All very good things.
While the fries are not hand cut, I enjoyed them. They are crinkle cut and come super crispy on the outside and have great potato flavor on the inside.
I am definitely a believer in the hype of Shake Shack. It has obviously been inspired by the In-N-Out burger so it’s no surprise that I love it. This is just the kind of burger I would love to see in Philly.
