I was reading the most recent Quick Bites post on Foobooz, which led me to this Table Talk article on Philly.com about Capogiro’s whirlwind expansion. It looks like the University City location might be open. And I’m about to head over and find out! I’ll update this post upon my return.
UPDATE:
It’s open! And it’s gorgeous (spoken with the inflections of Linda Richman). I took a few pics of the interior, but sadly my camera phone is a little jacked. The decor reminds me of a Mediterranean oasis and has a lighthearted, earthy, loungey feel. There’s a bar/stool area as well as smaller marble tables, even a cushioned love seat across the other side. The menu is expansive – a yogurt bar, breakfast items, sandwiches, full coffee bar, all in addition to their fabulous gelato and sundaes (see full menu scans under the cut). I ordered the mozzarella sandwich because I just couldn’t make up my mind (plus my stomach and I are currently embroiled in a two-week long control feud).

fresh mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, homemade pesto: ooey, gooey, crusty, delicious.
